Our Guide to 4th of July

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

We believe entertaining should be...well, entertaining. And, that's especially true on the 4th of July, one of the most fun celebrations of the year. Less "hosting duties", more celebrating - yes please!

Whether you're hosting a brunch, backyard BBQ, or a guest bringing the party, our guide has something for you: straightforward recipes for festive cocktails, a red white & blue cheeseboard, an All-American sundae, and versatile decor to celebrate the Stars & Stripes...and all summer long!

Watermelon Cucumber Mimosas

Kick off the celebrations with this three-step patriotic twist on mimosas. Bring in an elegant touch of blue and white with our Chinoiserie Print Insert, which reverses to a Lemon & Stripes - another classic summer print.

1. Fill each champagne glass halfway with champagne.

2. Fill the rest of the glass with Watermelon-Cucumber juice, leaving about an inch left at the top. We recommend the Watermelon-Cucumber cooler from Trader Joe's.

3. Top it off with a splash of St. Germain (Elderflower Liqueur).

4. Optional: garnish each glass with a strawberry slice.

Red, White, & Blue Cheese Board

A delicous way to incorporate red, white, and blue into your appetizer spread. Pop in one of our Natural Bamboo or Porcelain Inserts to turn the tray into a cheese board.

THE CHEESE:

Focus on the colors (red white & blue, of course) when picking out your cheese. Gouda with red wax is great for a pop of red. For Blue, we love a blue Stilton, but any blue cheese works. There are endless options for white, but we suggest upping your cheese board game by including a small bowl of whipped ricotta cheese topped with honey, blueberries, strawberries - a sweet & savory ode to the USA. If you have room, include a hunk of Brie to mix up the texture and flavors of the board.

THE CHARCUTERIE:

If your 4th of July celebration is anything like ours, it probably involves lots of BBQ and grilling which means you can go lighter on the characturie. A small portion of your favorite cured meats will do. Our go-tos are proscuitio and peppered salami - two different flavors plus additional pops of red!

THE CRACKERS & TOPPINGS:

Now this is your time for your red, white, & blue creativity to shine! Pick an assortment of light crackers in various shapes and flavors - ours includes classic water crackers, roasted gorgonzola crisps, and mini brioche toasts (brioche turned into a cracker - brilliant.) Color the board with fresh fruits like blueberries, strawberries, red grapes, and cherries. Scatter light-colored nuts like cashews or marcona almonds. Finally, for a sweet and spicy touch, we serve Hot Pepper Jelly in a small bowl...a firework of a combination with the creamy cheeses.

THE 4TH OF JULY GARNISH:

Top each piece of cheese with a mini American flag because it is America's birthday after all.

Firecracker Popsicle Cocktails

A-wine-and-frozen-treat-combo? Count us in!

This two-ingredient, two-step cocktail exudes the childlike joy of celebrating the 4th of July.

Pour glasses of Rosé wine (white wine works well too) and gently place "firecracker" popsicles in each glass. These popsicles can be found at most major grocers.

Pair these cocktails with either side of our Reversible Blue Shibori Tie-Dye & Red Gingham Insert which is as playful as the popsicles themselves.

All-American Ice Cream Sundaes

Ice cream and classic American cookies in the same bowl is everything a July 4th dessert should be: fun, cool, and totally USA.

Fill a serving bowl with vanilla ice cream pre-topped with red and blue sprinkles. Serve a variety of toppings including chopped fresh strawberries, blueberries, and classic American cookies - chocolate chip and snickernoodles are our fav!

For an All-American scene, decorate with our Red Gingham Insert and patriotic decor like American Flag paper cups and red, white, & blue lanterns which work great on your dessert station or hung above.

Fireworks Champagne Toast

An evening cheers to the Stars & Stripes! Pop some bubbly, drop in a few blueberries, and garnish the rim with a fresh strawberry slice. While the fireworks show may be cancelled, our Celebration Insert brings the fireworks your celebration deserves.

How will you make your statement this 4th of July? We can't wait to see!

Tag your celebrations with #mystatementhome and we'll share our favorites!
